We train every weekday 7:30- 10:00 am at North Park and Monday and Wednesday 8-9:30 pm at Brook Park. We will have couple of out of town teams visit us throughout the summer that we will train with and play against. This is a great opportunity for the ones that would like to commit to excellence in the sport of water polo. It would be a great preparation for the fall season and State Championships for both Middle School and High School. We have several athletes that came out of our program and attended the most prestige schools in the country.

¬†Each year participation grows and, each year, we are both happy and proud to introduce a new sport and new activity to young¬†athletes¬†of many ages. The Tiger Water Polo Club’s Summer Water Polo program is for boys and girls ages 6-18…from beginners to experienced water polo players and everything in between. The objective of our program is teach and develop the basics of water polo skills and game play in a fun, supportive environment.¬†We simply want to expose kids to the great sport of water polo, teach them some of the basic skills and rules of play and then let them have fun playing in games.

Our program is run by the coaches of Tiger Water Polo with assistance from many of our more experienced members/players. Our club’s head coach is also the head men’s and women’s coach of the North Allegheny High School varsity water polo teams and has a background that includes time coaching with the varsity program at the US Naval Academy and as an¬†assistant¬†with the US Men’s National team. He was named the 2012 PIAA Water Polo Coach of the Year and has won the Pennsylvania State Boys Water Polo Championships each of the past two years.

The¬†program is divided into multiple groups to allow for close alignment across a broad spectrum of skills and abilities. The groupings below are only for general description purposes. A child’s actual ability in the water may allow for he or she to play in a group above or below their actual age:

Noodle Ball (ages 5-7) is for youngsters that may require – or feel more comfortable with – flotation devices while learning to pass, shoot and play a modified version of water polo.

Youth Polo (ages (8-10) is for newer players with some swimming skills, but still most comfortable in the shallow end of a pool. There will be a focus on skills and games with participants playing modified rules water polo across the width of a pool

Middle School Polo (ages 11-13) is for young athletes with strong swimming skills and possibly some previous water polo experience. Games play will be a focus of this group that will play the full length of a 25 yard pool.

The only equipment needed for participation are a swimsuit and goggles. Swimsuits for boys should be a snug fitting jammer or speedo type suit. Swimsuits for girls should be one piece bathing suits. We recommend you consider bringing water or snacks for your child if you see fit and a large towel (particularly for the younger players) to help keep the kids warm when out of the water is always a good idea. The only equipment needed¬†to participate is a swim suit and goggles. The swim suit should be a¬†snug fitting one¬†piece suit – for girls¬† – and ¬†a speedo or jammer type suit for the boys. Board suits and loose fitting trunks can hamper an athlete’s ability to move freely and comfortably during games.

All sessions will be conducted in the pool at North Allegheny Senior High School. You are not required to be a North Allegheny resident to participate. Registration is via our online form and payment is by check. Payment instructions are included on the completed registration form.
